Triple Sugar Iron Agar (TSI Agar) is used for the differentiation of Gram-negative enteric bacilli based on carbohydrate fermentation and the production of hydrogen sulfide.
● Contains three sugar: dextrose, lactose, and sucrose
● Phenol red for detecting carbohydrate fermentation
● Ferrous ammonium sulfate detects hydrogen sulfide production
● Dehydrated appearance: Pink, free-flowing
Composition:
Peptone: 20g/lit.
Agar: 12g/lit.
Lactose: 10g/lit.
Sucrose: 10g/lit.
NaCl: 5g/lit.
Beef extract: 3g/lit.
Yeast extract: 3g/lit.
Glucose: 1g/lit.
Ferric citrate: 0.3g/lit.
Na2S2O3: 0.3m/lit.
Phenol Red: 0.025g/lit.
